About the Treatment

The art of natural enhancement

Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid,a substance that occurs naturally in the body,to restore volume, smooth lines and sculpt facial contours. Because hyaluronic acid attracts and retains water, results look and feel soft and natural rather than stiff or artificial.

Dr Barker's philosophy with fillers is always less is more. He believes the best filler result is one nobody can identify, you simply look like a well-rested, refreshed version of yourself. He takes the time to map your facial anatomy carefully before placing a single drop, and will never encourage more product than your face genuinely needs.

Dermal fillers are increasingly popular with men too. Male patients often seek jawline definition, chin projection, temple volume and under-eye correction, areas where subtle filler delivers a sharp, masculine result that looks completely natural. Dr Barker treats a significant number of male patients and understands how to tailor results to suit male facial anatomy.

Treatment Areas

Areas Dr Barker treats

Cheeks & Midface
Restoring volume to the cheeks lifts and rejuvenates the entire face. With age, cheek fat descends and thins. Strategic filler placement recreates youthful projection and reduces the appearance of nasolabial folds naturally.
Jawline & Chin
Filler along the jawline and chin creates definition, improves symmetry and helps sculpt a more balanced lower face profile. One of the most popular treatments for men seeking a sharper, more structured appearance, and equally effective for women wanting improved facial contour.
Under-Eyes (Tear Trough)
The under-eye area is one of the most technically demanding filler treatments. When done correctly it erases dark hollows and the permanent tired look that no amount of sleep fixes. Dr Barker approaches this area with particular care and precision.
Nasolabial Folds
The lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth deepen with age and volume loss. Filler here softens these creases for a fresher, more rested appearance without affecting natural expression.
Marionette Lines
The lines that run downward from the mouth corners can create a sad or stern resting expression. Filler softens these lines and, in combination with toxin to lift the corners, delivers a significant improvement.
Temples
Temple hollowing is often overlooked but ages the face considerably. Restoring volume to the temples frames the eyes, softens the skull appearance and contributes to an overall more youthful facial shape.
Nose (Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty)
Strategic filler placement can smooth dorsal humps, lift a drooping tip and improve nasal symmetry, all without surgery or downtime. Results are immediate and last 12 to 18 months.
Hand Rejuvenation
Hands age faster than faces and are often overlooked. Filler restores lost volume to the backs of the hands, reducing the appearance of prominent veins and tendons for a smoother, younger-looking result.
What to Expect

Your treatment, step by step

1
Consultation & Facial Mapping
Dr Barker assesses your facial anatomy, discusses your goals and maps out the areas and volumes he recommends. He will always tell you honestly what is and is not achievable, and will never suggest more product than your face needs.
2
Topical Anaesthetic
A numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and left for 15 to 20 minutes. Most premium fillers also contain lidocaine, making the treatment very comfortable.
3
The Treatment
Dr Barker performs every injection personally, using a combination of needles and cannulas depending on the area. Treatment typically takes 20 to 45 minutes. He checks results with you throughout.
4
Immediately After
Some swelling and tenderness is normal, particularly with lip filler. This settles within 24 to 72 hours. Bruising is possible and resolves within 7 to 10 days. Results are visible immediately and improve as swelling subsides.
5
Final Result & Aftercare
Full results are visible at 2 weeks once any swelling has resolved. Dr Barker is personally available via WhatsApp throughout your recovery and a complimentary review can be arranged if needed.
Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will my lips look natural or overdone?
Natural results are Dr Barker's signature. He does not create the overfilled, shelf-like lips you may have seen elsewhere. His approach is always to enhance your natural shape and add volume proportionate to your face. You will look like yourself, just better.
Is filler reversible?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm® and Restylane® can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This gives patients the reassurance that if they are unhappy with a result, it can be corrected. Dr Barker will always discuss this option openly.
How long do fillers last?
This varies by area and individual metabolism. Lips typically last 6 to 9 months, cheeks and jawline 12 to 18 months, and tear trough filler can last up to 2 years. Regular maintenance prolongs results over time.
Is there downtime?
Most patients return to work the same day or the next morning. Swelling and tenderness are normal for 24 to 72 hours. Bruising can occur and resolves within 7 to 10 days. Lips tend to swell more than other areas initially.
Can I combine filler with Botox?
Absolutely. Combining fillers with Botox or Dysport is often called a liquid facelift and delivers exceptional results. Dr Barker will recommend the ideal combination during your consultation if he feels it would benefit you.
How much filler will I need?
Dr Barker will give you an honest assessment at consultation. He starts conservatively and builds gradually,it is always better to add than to over-fill. Most patients require 1 to 2 syringes per session depending on the area and degree of correction.
