What is Botox & Dysport?
Botox or Dysport injections, are made by Botulinum toxin, a protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium and other related strains.
Botox or Dysport works by interfering with the signals the nerves send to the muscle, causing temporary paralysis of these small muscles, thereby improving the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
How are Botox or Dysport injections performed:
Dr Barker will first perform a thorough analysis and assessment of your face and the area to be treated, the area(s) to be treated will then be marked. The number of units required is specific to your needs. A topical numbing cream can be applied to the skin, should you wish. A tiny needle is then used to inject the muscle(s). The procedure is tolerated very well, with only a slight sting from the injection.
The procedure takes between 10 and 15 minutes.
Expected Results and Downtime:
Results become visible within 5 -7 days post-procedure. There is minimal downtime, allowing you to resume normal activities immediately. Any bruising resolves within a few days.
A Follow-up appointment will be scheduled to assess the results.
Frequency of Treatments:
To maintain optimal results, Botox & Dysport injections should be repeated every 4-6 months.
