What is Platelet Rich Plasma in a Vampire Facial ?
The “Vampire Facial” is a unique procedure that combines microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to stimulate your body’s natural healing processes and boost collagen and elastin production. Your own blood’s PRP is packed with growth and repair factors that work together to regenerate and repair aged or damaged skin. With a vampire facial (PRP), you can say goodbye to fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging, and hello to a brighter, healthier complexion!
How is the procedure performed?
Your blood is drawn into a small tube, which is then placed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma and platelets from your red blood cells.
Dr Barker will apply a topical anaesthetic numbing cream to your face. The area will then be microneedled using your own platelet rich plasma.
The PRP should remain on your skin for the rest of the day for optimal results.
Down time:
As with micro-needling, you will notice dry, red, sensitive skin, much like a light sunburn for the first few days after treatment.
Results:
Start to become visible 2 – 4 weeks post treatment.
- It’s best to avoid sun exposure before your microneedling appointment.
- Wash your face with a mild cleanser before your appointment
- Dont put any moisturisers or other products on your skin
- Dont wear any make-up on the day.
What to expect:
Your skin will be red for about a day, occasionally up to 3 days. A very light peel follows the redness. There is no need to stay at home for days, most patients can be out and about the day after the procedure.
